According to a recent news story, an amazingly quick-thinking 4-year-old was able to get her injured 2-year-old sister out of her carseat after a crash killed their mother. The older child sheltered herself and her sister under a blanket for six hours in fourty degree rain. The girls were noticed and rescued by a passing car.
My 3-year-old doesn't even like to put his own sock on by himself.
Hopefully these girls are able to recover not only physically, but emotionally from what they endured.
Wow. Poor babies. :(
ReplyDeleteI totally think that whether or not a 4yo would think to do that is a personality-type thing. Some people are "take charge" and spring to life in an emergency. Others fall apart/shut down in an emergency. That's just as true of young children as grownups.
But what an awful experience to have to live through.
